Honorary & Lifetime Contribution Awards
The Honorary and Lifetime Contribution Awards shall be granted to as many persons as deemed deserving by the National Assembly. Honorary Contribution Awards may be granted to those individuals who have greatly contributed to the achievements and aims of the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association, without ever being a member of the Association. Lifetime Contribution Awards may be granted to past members who have greatly contributed to the achievements and aims of the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association.
Nominees shall be confirmed with a majority vote of the National Assembly. Nominations for Honorary or Lifetime Contribution Awards must be submitted to the Chair of the Awards Committee by the first day of the January Board of Directors meeting.
Honorary and Lifetime Contribution Award recipients shall be invited to Canadian Nursing Students’ Association National Conference as an observer and be eligible for the member rate every year. This award has no monetary attachment.

Nominations for this award must include:

Supporting statement, either written or verbal, as appropriate
Once a nomination has been verified by the Board of Directors, it will be presented to the National Assembly in the form of a motion. Nominees shall be confirmed with a majority vote on the motion by the National Assembly.
Members of the board of directors, committee chairs, and current nursing students/Canadian Nursing Students’ Association associates cannot be nominated for Lifetime or Honourary Contribution Awards. No individual is eligible for either award until six months after graduation from their nursing program or six months after completion of their Canadian Nursing Students’ Association Term of Office.
The Board of Directors can revoke the Honourary or Lifetime Contribution Award from a recipient at any time upon violation of the Governing documents, the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association Code of Professional Conduct, or when they have been determined to have caused considerable harm to Canadian Nursing Students’ Association. In these cases, the Board of Directors would bring the proposition of revocation to the National Assembly. Such a decision requires a majority vote.
The names of the Honourary or Lifetime Contribution Award recipients shall be posted on the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association website.
Application process
The deadline to submit a nomination for Canadian Nursing Students’ Association’s Honorary and Lifetime Contribution Awards is TBD.
Please submit nominations for either the Honourary or Lifetime Contribution Awards to the Scholarship and Bursary Coordinator.
In the body of the email please state whether you are nominating the individual for an Honorary or Lifetime Contribution Award; the full name of the person being nominated; the school or institution they attended or are affiliated with; and a synopsis or list of accomplishments outlining why the nominee deserves this recognition.
The Canadian Nursing Students’ Association Board of Directors will review the nominations and the Vice President will notify the nominator of the Board of Director’s decision.
Nominations approved by the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association Board of Directors will be brought forward to National Assembly.
The nominator will be called upon at the National Assembly to share why they believe the nominee deserves the award.
The National Assembly will vote in favour or against.
