Indigenous Caucus Chair - Chantell Sorensen

Boozhoo, aaniiyag niinawindwaa | Hello, everyone,

My name Chantell Sorensen, currently embarking on my second year of nursing studies at Selkirk College. I'm thrilled to announce my recent appointment as the Indigenous Caucus Chair Leader for the Canadian Nursing Students' Association (CNSA). Embracing my Métis heritage, I'm on a profound journey of self-discovery and cultural immersion, all while balancing my academic endeavors, outdoor adventures, and love for true crime literature. As a mother, passing down our cherished traditions to the next generation brings me immense joy and fulfillment. Furthermore, my commitment extends to volunteering with the Nav-care where I dedicate myself to providing compassionate care and support to individuals and families during their end-of-life journey.

My focus on advocating for Indigenous representation and well-being among nursing students stems from a deep respect for my ancestors' legacy. I am committed to working towards a brighter future for all, fueled by a newfound sense of purpose in my role. I firmly believe that by embracing and celebrating diversity, we can pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable healthcare landscape. Thank you for allowing me to share a glimpse into my journey.
