Types of Membership
CNSA is run by its members, for its members. CNSA members fall into one of a number of defined categories. Please see below for a detailed explanation of these categories.
Chapter Membership:
A student body at a School of Nursing1, whose application for membership has been approved by the board of directors, and whose membership fees have been duly paid.
Individual Membership:
Any nursing student at a School of Nursing1, whose student body is a chapter member in good standing can apply to be an Individual Member.
Distance Membership:
Any nursing student who is not currently enrolled at a chapter member School of Nursing1, whose application for membership has been approved by the board of directors.
Continuing Membership:
Any former individual member or distance member who expresses a continuing interest in the association and whose application has been accepted by the board of directors.
Lifetime Membership:
Any former individual member or distance member whom the board of directors chooses to recognize for distinguished service and outstanding contribution to the association.
Honorary Membership:
Any individual who although has never been a member of the association, recognized for distinguished service and outstanding contribution to CNSA.
Affiliate Membership:
Any organization or corporate body whose application for membership has been approved by the board of directors.
1A School of Nursing is any school in Canada that offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree, the Bachelor of Nursing degree or equivalent or offers the Registered/Liscenced Practical Nursing program or the Registered Psychiatric Nursing Program.
Regions of Membership
CNSA members are categorized into one of five regions based on their
geographical location. Chapter members in each region elect a Regional Director to the Board of Directors and each region holds an annual Regional Conference.

Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Nunavut
Quebec
Ontario
Prairie
Manitoba and Saskatchewan
Western
Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon and Northwest Territories

Lifetime and Honorary Members of CNSA
Lifetime membership is bestowed upon former CNSA members who have made an outstanding contribution to CNSA as a member of CNSA. Honorary membership is bestowed upon individuals who have never been a member of CNSA/AEIC, but have made a significant contribution to the organization. Click here to see the recipients.
